ACTIVITIES
The position, on the first hills of the Enza valley on the Parma side, makes connections with Parma and the plain convenient and fast. In half an hour by car you can reach the center of Parma or Reggio Emilia, in fifteen minutes the beautiful castles of the area such as Torrechiara, Canossa or Rossena and the Monte Fuso provincial park with the wildlife oasis. Just further up you reach the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park which includes the Cento Laghi Park and the Bismantova Stone.
It is impossible not to be won over by the culinary art of this area, in the heart of the Food-valley, full of food and wine and landscape riches. Simple and genuine foods such as Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma Ham, Salame di Felino and Vini dei Colli are born with care and dedication from these lands.
There are many activities that can be done in our area:
- Parma is a city with a strong artistic and cultural tradition, among which notable names stand out: Benedetto Antelami who was responsible for the Cathedral and the Baptistery, in pink Verona marble, Correggio, who worked on the Chamber of St. Paul, in St. John the Evangelist and in the Duomo and Parmigianino who frescoed the church of Santa Maria della Steccata and parts of San Giovanni. Parma is also a culturally lively city, known for its musical and theatrical traditions since the times of the Farnese. The fact that music is king in Parma is certainly nothing new: the people of Parma are great enthusiasts and lovers of the subject and never miss an opportunity to support and protect it.
- Parma, with its many typical products, offers the opportunity to take a real journey into taste. Our territory, among other things, is in the full production area of Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma Ham and various especially white wines. On request we will direct you to the dairies, cured meat factories and cellars that you can visit and where you can purchase excellent zero-mile products. And to rediscover the ancient flavors and delicacies, which have become a trademark of Italian gastronomy in the world, you will have the opportunity, in the many trattorias and restaurants in the area, to taste the best dishes of Parma cuisine.
- Cycling enthusiasts will have the opportunity to try the many itineraries already present in our hills and to discover new ones, both for MTB and road bikes. In both cases, our hills are very suitable for cycling, because there are many roads with little traffic and plenty of changes in gradient and there are also many tracks and paths for MTBs and trekking enthusiasts.
- A visit to the castles in the area is absolutely not to be missed. In fact, a few minutes by car we find the castles of Torrechiara, Montechiarugolo and the fortress of Sala Baganza, belonging to the castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza and the castles of Canossa, Rossena and Bianello in the province of Reggio Emilia among the Matildic castles.
